“You should play the lottery!” is a piece of advice that tends to be doled out when someone seems to be having a lucky day, and that was certainly the case with a golfer who got two holes-in-one in the same round. He did exactly that after leaving the course, and that turned out to be a good move based on how much he won from the scratch-off ticket he bought.

Most golfers will never get to experience the rush that comes with getting a hole-in-one, which is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement for the vast majority of people who ever decide to subject themselves to what is theoretically supposed to be an enjoyable game but has a tendency to be a miserable one in practice.

Many people who play that game on a regular basis will tell you a typical round mostly consists of hitting shots that make you wonder why you ever bothered picking up clubs in the first place in addition to one or two that remind you why you did and keep you coming back.

A hole-in-one would definitely fall under that second umbrella, and one man recently had himself a day by getting two of them and winning enough money to cover his tab in the clubhouse after an envy-inducing round.

A golfer who was told to play the lottery after getting two holes-in-one in the same round won $500 after doing exactly that

Earlier this month, Cobbossee Colony Golf Course in Monmouth, Maine held its 44th annual charity tournament to raise funds for various organizations in the state the nine-hole track calls home.

According to WGME, Anton Lawrence signed up for the scramble with his son, a brother who was visiting from Louisiana, and a buddy who rounded out the foursome that headed to the course on September 13th. He’d been playing golf for over 40 years without getting a hole-in-one, but that was firmly no longer the case by the time the day wrapped up.

Lawrence pulled out his driver on the par-4 8th and managed to find the cup, and he harnessed the same strategy later in the round while getting his second ace of the day on the par-3 2nd (his foursome ended up winning the tournament thanks in no small part to his contributions).

He said “everybody” told him to buy a lottery ticket after the round, and he ended up trying his luck on Powerball and a couple of scratch-offs, which included a Jurassic Park-themed one that netted him $500.

Must be nice.
