Over the weekend, Malik Beasley became the latest NBA player to end up at the center of an investigation linked to sports betting. We’ll have to wait and see how things ultimately unfold, but fans didn’t waste any time tracking down some clips that certainly aren’t a great look for the man who’s found himself under a microscope.
The NBA managed to emerge surprisingly unscathed from the scandal that led to disgraced referee Tim Donaghy ending up in prison for fixing games between 2003 and 2007, but it found itself dealing with another black eye last year courtesy of Jontay Porter.
In March, the big man found himself targeted in an investigation linked to suspicious patterns surrounding a number of prop bets concerning his individual performance while playing for the Raptors. The league ultimately hit him with a lifetime ban before he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and he’ll learn his fate at a sentencing hearing scheduled for later this year.
That development led to the institution of a new rule that forbids sportsbooks from offering prop bets on players inked to a two-way or 10-day contract. However, that doesn’t apply to Malik Beasley, the guard who recently wrapped up his ninth season and was reportedly gearing up to sign a three-year deal with the Pistons worth over $40 million.
However, that new contract is firmly in limbo now that Beasley has attracted the attention of the U.S. District Attorney’s office over prop bets linked to his tenure with the Bucks during the 2023-24 campaign; the NBA confirmed it is cooperating with investigators, while his attorney stressed he has not been charged with any crime after the news came to light.
Beasley is innocent until proven guilty, but it didn’t take NBA fans very long to track down some clips that haven’t aged well considering the circumstances.

While it doesn’t appear the investigation is looking at his stint with the Timberwolves (which spanned from 2020-2022), there was also plenty of attention paid to a game where he sprinted down the court to score a largely meaningless bucket in the closing seconds of a loss to the Clippers that flipped the script on the 8.5-point spread.
Interesting to say the least.
