Controversial track and field whistleblower Monzavous Edwards, most commonly known as Rae Edwards, put Marvin Bracy-Williams on blast for the alleged use of PEDs. The former Florida State football standout ran his last race in 2023 before he quietly disappeared from the sport.

Why?

Nobody seems to know for certain why Bracy-Williams has not competed in professional track and field in over two years. However, Edwards claims his mysterious disappearance is actually a suspension.

Who is Marvin Bracy-Williams?

Bracy-Williams committed to Florida State as a wide receiver prospect in the recruiting Class of 2012. The four-star recruit ultimately chose to redshirt as a freshman and did not record any official game stats before he left the program.

Bracy forwent the remainder of his college football career to focus on track— specifically the 60 and 100. It proved to be the right decision!

He won a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in 2014 with one of the fastest 60-meter times in United States history and ran at the Olympics in 2016. He later won a silver medal in the 100 at the World Outdoor Championships in 2022, as well as gold with Team USA in the 4×100 that same year.

Bracy’s most recent race was at the Prefontaine Classic on the Diamond League in Sept. 2023. Almost two full years ago.

Why did he disappear from track and field?

According to Rae Edwards, Marvin Bracy-Williams is currently serving a suspension for PEDs.

“Oh. And by the way. Marvin Bracy been serving a provisional suspension for the last two years because he took a PED shot, went and confided in Dennis about it cause he felt like Dennis would understand because of his dealings with PEDs. Dennis turned around and snitched on Marv,” @raestaketv wrote on X.

This possible suspension has not been confirmed by World Athletics. Nor has it been made public by Team USA. It continues to be one of the biggest mysteries in track and field.

Edwards claims Bracy went to his coach, Dennis Mitchell, in confidence. Mitchell allegedly snitched.

Edwards claims to know this information because he was the one who got Bracy in touch with the doctor that administered the PED shot. He says that he, too, is suspended as a coach for his behavior even though I am not entirely sure he ever actually served as a coach.

“I’m serving a provisional suspension right now because I gave Marv the phone number to the Dr. they were using, but the Dr. told Marv not to tell Dennis that Marv was working with him/her because him/her felt like Dennis would be mad,” @raestaketv continues.

Mitchell supposedly snitched on Bracy because he did not want his athlete to work with Edwards— or anyone else. Or so Edwards says.

Bracy and Mitchell started working together in early 2023.

There is another unique wrinkle to this situation.

Mitchell, an Olympic gold medalist, tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone in 1998 and infamously blamed the suspicious drug test on sex with his wife. He was also accused in the Biogenesis scandal (the one that rocked Major League Baseball in 2013) of providing his athletes with PEDs.

Can Rae Edwards be trusted as an expert on PEDs?

The answer to the above question depends on who you ask.

Edwards has a history in track and field. He represented the United States at the Pan American Games in 2007 and 2011 as well as the North American, Central American and Caribbean Championships in 2007.

The 44-year-old now serves as an analyst/commentator of/on the sport. His YouTube channel, ‘Raes Take TV‘ boasts more than 8,000 subscribers. Like him or not, his knowledge of the sport cannot be questioned!

This is also not the first time Edwards put track and field athletes on blast. He posted a series of text messages about a year ago that hinted toward doping and/or the use of PEDs.

With that being said, Christian Coleman and Sha’Carri Richardson (who were dating at the time) both spoke out against him.

“If y’all actually respect track & field, please stop entertaining & following these track pages that have no clue or credibility to what they are saying about the athletes y’all actually care for,” Richardson wrote.

Coleman essentially called him a fraud.

“[Rae Edwards] is the very definition of an internet coach. Never did and could never do what I do,” he said on X.

Edwards vowed from that point forward to expose how dirty these “big name” athletes (not Coleman in specific) really are. It is his mission.

“You’re not going to get on a podium with water and Gatorade,” he said in the past. “… If you think the guys they’re working with aren’t smart enough to make drugs and pass drug tests you’re stupid as hell.”

Edwards consistently says that every elite track and field athlete was/is using performance enhancing drugs. This is something he has pushed even before this latest development, dating back to 2021.
