The Chicago Bears have regressed into being a laughingstock of the league once again. Head Coach Matt Eberflus and his team have now lost three games in a row, culminating in a humiliating 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

At 4-6, and with the meat of the schedule coming up, Matt Eberflus appears to be approaching lame duck status. On a local radio show on Monday, Eberflus was insulted by a local radio host in a clip that went viral.

The Bears needed to beat the lowly Patriots on Sunday to get to .500 before their schedule really starts to get difficult Instead, they were dominated to the tune of a 19-3 final score.

The offense is a complete disaster. The Bears mustered just 142 total yards of offense. That’s a subpar total for a half of football, let alone a full game. Matt Eberflus has a defensive background, so some may want to absolve him of blame for this. But, he’s the head coach, and that means all facets of the team ultimately fall on his shoulders. He’s the guy who signed off on the hire of embattled offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. And, Matt Eberflus has a hand in the weekly game plan. Whatever the process is, it’s not working.

Poor offenses are not a new thing in Chicago. They’re the only team that doesn’t have a single 4,000-yard passer in franchise history. But, this year was supposed to be different. Top pick Caleb Williams and a loaded group of weapons were supposed to get the Bears offense to respectability, with the potential to get into the upper-echelon of the league. That’s not been the case, and Williams is showing serious regression.

Matt Eberflus was doing his weekly local radio hit, and had trouble with his connection into the studio. That set him up to get hammered by this joke.

That just about sums things up in Chicago right now.
