Former Jets offensive lineman Mekhi Becton gave his input on the recent Robert Saleh firing, shading his old head coach before deleting that initial post.

He clearly has no remorse over Saleh being canned by New York!

Becton posted an image online of a popular meme after hearing the news.

The big man was drafted in the first round by Jets the year before Robert Saleh’s arrival. From there, he experienced a number of issues that stunted his growth with the organization.

Injuries hampered his ability to stay on the field, as did his problems with staying in shape.

Athlon Sports wrote about his time in the Big Apple earlier this offseason.

After a strong rookie season in which he appeared on the path to superstardom, Becton suffered two knee injuries that cost him back-to-back full NFL seasons…

Add in several conversations about the offensive lineman being overweight throughout two seasons, and it appeared the 2023 season was going to be the end of the line for both the Jets and Becton together.

Making matters worse, Mekhi Becton blamed the coaching staff for his injuries, insisting that cross-training at both right and left tackle caused the setbacks.

“I.AM.A.LEFT.TACKLE,” he tweeted (and deleted) while commenting on the position change. It seems to be his M.O.!

At 6’7″ and 360 pounds, Becton is a massive human being. He’s since signed with the Eagles, saying he’s “happier” in Philadelphia.

“I’m happier here. I want it to be long-term. I love this city of Philly. I love the people here, I love the fans. I hope it’s long-term.”

That said, he’s clearly keeping an eye on his former team.

Robert Saleh was fired on Monday following a loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Across four seasons with Saleh at the helm, the Jets went just 20-36. That subpar output was enough to force a change. Clearly, Becton isn’t heartbroken with the move.
