Cheeto Shaped Like Michael Jordan ‘Jumpman’ Logo Auctioned Off For Wild Price After Bidding War

Most people don’t pay too much attention to the shape of the Cheetos they’re eating before shoveling them into their mouths. However, you might want to be a bit more deliberate thanks to a new trend that’s seen some uniquely shaped pieces fetch some pretty lofty sums—including one bearing an uncanny resemblance to the Jumpman logo.

I feel like most NBA fans are familiar with the battle that unfolded between the shoe companies who wanted to hitch their wagon to Michael Jordan when the rising superstar made the leap to the pros.

Nike ultimately prevailed after outfoxing Converse and Adidas with a deal that led to the creation of the Air Jordan brand, which spawned the iconic “Jumpman” logo based on a picture of the basketball legend leaping toward the rim that was snapped when he was gearing up for the 1984 Summer Olympics while playing at UNC.

That silhouette has a lot in common with a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto that surfaced at an auction Goldin organized last month, as the company was hoping to capitalize on the success of another one shaped like Charizard that fetched more than $87,000 earlier this year.

It’s not even close to being the most valuable piece of memorabilia (if you can even call it that) associated with His Airness, but the Cheeto still generated enough interest to attract 32 bids that drove the price up to the $8,113 it ultimately sold for when the auction came to a close.

If you’re kicking yourself for missing out on that find, don’t fret, as there’s currently a similarly shaped Jumpman Cheeto listed on eBay for a comparatively reasonable $3,500.

What a world.
