It took 12 years for Michael Jordan to find a buyer for the lavish mansion outside Chicago that he once called home. It was finally purchased last year, and the new owner is charging some hefty rates to rent it out on Airbnb in the hopes of getting a return on his investment.

Michael Jordan certainly had plenty of money to work with when he decided to build a home outside of Chicago during his time with the Bulls, and the NBA legend used some of it to construct a lavish mansion in the suburb of Highland Park that boasted nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, and amenities including a cigar room, outdoor putting green, and indoor basketball court.

His Airness ultimately made Florida his primary place of residence, and in 2012, he decided to put his estate in Illinois on the market in the hopes of finding a buyer who would be willing to fork over the $29 million it was initially listed for.

However, that ended up being much easier said than done, and the price was repeatedly lowered until someone finally bit by scooping it up for $9.5 million in 2o24.

The buyer was a real estate investor named John Cooper, and he eventually revealed he had plans to convert it into a timeshare dubbed “Champion’s Point” while giving people the opportunity to drop $1 million for the right to stay there for a single week per year.

However, it appears Cooper has decided to pivot after that strategy seemingly failed to attract the amount of interest he was hoping for, as NBC News reports it is now available for short-term rentals and was recently listed on Airbnb under the “Luxe” category reserved for some of the platform’s most opulent offerings.

The listing describes Jordan’s former home as a “private oasis” that gives guests access to a slew of perks:

“A professional-grade putting green, fishing in your private pond stocked with bass and bluegill, and swimming in your zero-entry infinity edge pool!

Inside enjoy your movie theatre, commercial gym, cigar lounge, wine cellar, pool tables, bars, salon, salt water aquariums, and full basketball court!”

The house can accommodate up to 14 people and requires guests to book a minimum stay of seven nights. As you can probably guess, it’s also not cheap; rates may vary slightly depending on the specific dates, but the outlet notes a stint that spans the upcoming Labor Day weekend will set you back $120,920.

That comes down to more than $1,200 a night if you’re splitting the cost among 14 people, so it’s safe to assume there’s going to be a fairly limited market.
