It’s the summer of athletes-turned-Instagram models. Wherever you look, social media personalities like Olivia Dunne, Paige Spiranac, and others are going viral and breaking into the mainstream. And, while she may not have hit the mainstream yet, Mikayla Demaiter is quite the sensation on social media.

The 23-year-old Canadian once had her sights on playing for the top national team in the world, but she gave those dreams up in 2019, saying in an Instagram caption:

“Dear Hockey,

It is time to say goodbye. It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life, for the first time you will not be my number one focus.

I want to thank you for the places we’ve gone together. I also want to thank you for all the friends you have made me. My family sends their best as well. I know they will definitely miss seeing us together.

I am excited for the future because everything you have taught me will allow me to succeed. There will still be early mornings, new adventures and new friends, and I hope that I embrace them with the same love and passion I did for you.

Thanks again for everything.”

Since then, she’s accumulated 2.4 million followers on Instagram and another 2 million on Instagram, a truly stunning amount.

And, in her most recent viral Instagram post, she proved that she can even make patio furniture look good.

“It takes skill making outdoor patio furniture look good, a skill i do indeed have,” she captioned the post. Frankly, she’s not wrong.
