Baltimore Ravens running back slash bulldozer of a human being, Derrick Henry, proved he still has some gas left in the tank as he battered the Dallas Cowboys defense for 151 yards on 25 carries.
After the game, Cowboys owner slash general manager Jerry Jones was asked why Dallas didn’t sign Derrick Henry (who the Ravens signed to a two-year, $16 million contract) in the offseason (and instead signed a washed Ezekiel Elliott).
Jerry Jones replied that the Cowboys “couldn’t afford Derrick Henry.” Worse yet, when asked why Dallas “couldn’t afford” Henry Jones responded, “I don’t know.”
He then went on to compare it trying to buy a mansion “when you live in a different kind of house,” which really made no sense.
On Monday’s episode of Get Up, host Mike Greenberg shot down Jerry Jones’ excuse for not signing Derrick Henry in emphatic fashion.
Mike Greenberg tees off on Jerry Jones for saying the Cowboys couldn't afford Derrick Henry:

“I’m sorry, but with all due respect, sir, it is not as simple as that,” Mike Greenberg said. “Sometimes you can’t buy a mansion because you ran up a lot of credit card debt or something like that. You made bad financial decisions. And that’s what his team and his leadership have done. Maybe if you had decided to treat the offseason like it began sometime before September 1, you would have been able to make some of these moves.
“But when you wait on the CeeDee Lamb deal until you are the last mover. You ever heard of the term ‘first mover advantage?’ Well, they were the last mover when it came to the great receivers. So it cost them way more than it otherwise would have. And they were the last mover…
“They literally signed their quarterback to the biggest contract of all time an hour before the season began. They had no offseason. So they got worse and more expensive. Which is terrible management. So they could easily have afforded Derrick Henry if they had taken care of their business when they should have. And instead, he ran all over their non-existent defense yesterday.”
But hey, as Jerry Jones said earlier this NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys “spent the most cash of any club in the National Football League this year on players.
Oh, wait, they actually didn’t.
But listen, as Jerry Jones very clearly pointed out, “There’s nobody that could f—— come in here and do all the contracts … and be a GM any better than I can.”
Hmmm…
