Who should win the 2025 WNBA MVP award? Is it Napheesa Collier, who led the Minnesota Lynx to the best record in the league with a historic 50-40-90 season?
Or should reigning MVP A’ja Wilson repeat after leading the Las Vegas Aces to an incredible 16-game win streak to close the season and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs?
What once looked like a runaway win for Collier is now a genuine debate. But not to Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, who made her feelings on the matter clear.
Cheryl Reeve Says Napheesa Collier Should Be The Runaway WNBA MVP
By going 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, Collier completed just the second 50-40-90 (50% from the field, 40% from 3, 90% from the foul line) season in WNBA history.
Afterward, Reeve sat down with members of the media and discussed not only the incredible achievement, but also why her superstar is the obvious choice for MVP.
Cheryl Reeve on Napheesa Colliers 50/40/90 season
“Well, it can be revealed now that it was a goal of ours when we sat down with Phee, knowing it would be a lofty goal, it had only been done once before… Napheesa collier has been the best player in the WNBA this season and… pic.twitter.com/gN0dZtmAoy

“It’s only been done once before, and that player was the MVP,” Reeve said. “Phee deserves that recognition. The numbers don’t lie. … It’s done from start to finish. 50/40/90 is historic. I don’t know how long it will be before it happens again. Napheesa Collier has been the best player in the WNBA. She deserves MVP.”
On the other end of things, Wilson leads the league in points, rebounds, and blocks per game while sitting third in steals (Collier is second). So it’s probably not as clear cut as Reeve would like.
Ultimately, there’s no bad choice. Collier put together an all-time great WNBA season. Meanwhile, Wilson continued to show that she’s the best player on the planet.
One of them, however, is going to wind up disappointed when the award winner is announced.
