Nebraska Cornhuskers sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola swears that the similarities between himself and Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes are just a matter of happenstance.
In fact, Raiola is beginning to get annoyed at people who suggest he’s emulating the NFL superstar.
“So I’m just gonna start with that. It ain’t cap, it’s real love,” Raiola said on CBS Sports ‘Confidential Conversations’. “Everybody is like ‘oh you want to be like him’ and all this stuff. It just so happened that he played baseball and I played baseball. He plays quarterback and I play quarterback AND we look alike. I can’t get mad at God for making me look like him.
“I’m sure you all grew up watching dudes you loved watching play. I’m still a fan of the game. I’m in college. But I’m gonna be a fan of the game, always. All that hating stuff can go. I’m good on that. We’re cool. I can reach out. Call and text him whenever.”
But Raiola isn’t doing much to help his case.
Dylan Raiola Continues Creepy Patrick Mahomes Cosplay In Arrowhead Stadium
Coincidentally, Nebraska began its 2025 season at the home of the Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium. The Cornhuskers squared off with Cincinnati in what was a fantastically entertaining game, which the Huskers won, 20-17.
Prior to the game, Raiola showed up looking exactly like Mahomes: From the haircut to the goatee, to the clothes, and even the walk.
But it’s when the game began that things got really creepy. On Nebraska’s first drive of the game, Raiola appeared to mimic the iconic hand gesture that Mahomes makes when he’s in the zone.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??? LMFAOOO, he’s taking this wayyy to far pic.twitter.com/YCHOG2scx4

Mahomes previously told NFL Network that the hand gesture is a subconscious movement he makes when the Chiefs get rolling, particularly in the hurry-up offense.
Raiola swears that he isn’t trying to be a Mahomes clone. And to some extent, he’s right about the comparisons between the appearance of the two. But at some point, it becomes impossible to defend.
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But we’re way past flattery at this point. Now, it’s just downright creepy.
