Most sporting events feature in-game promotions where fans have the chance to win some solid prizes by participating in contests held during a break in the action. That was the case at a Nebraska basketball game where a couple of attendees walked away with a Porsche and a good chunk of cash in fairly quick succession.
On Wednesday night, the Nebraska Cornhuskers hosted USC at Pinnacle Bank Arena for a Big Ten men’s basketball showdown where the home team had a two-point lead at halftime but was ultimately handed its fifth consecutive loss after the Trojans rallied to walk away with the 78-73 victory.
Most fans who attended the contest left the arena disappointed, but that was not the case for two guys who were treated to a gleaming silver lining thanks to what transpired during it.
Prior to the start of the season, Nebraska announced it would give four people the chance to participate in the “Putt for A Porsche” contest slated to take place at halftime during a quartet of home games.
Each participant gets a couple of free tickets to the games in question before heading onto the court to attempt a 94-foot putt from one baseline to a narrow slot in a board positioned at the opposite one in order to win a 2024 Porsche Macan valued at $74,000.
One of those attempts transpired on Tuesday, and the guy who was picked for the putt rose to the occasion with a perfect shot that slowly rolled down the hardwood and through the hole to win himself a brand new Porsche as a building that was home to nearly 15,000 spectators erupted in response.

$500 might be chump change compared to the value of the other prize that was up for grabs, but another fan still managed to leave the game hundreds of dollars richer than he was when he arrived shortly after the new car was handed out by swishing a half-court shot he put up with an effortless flick.
Not too shabby.
