Call it running out of energy, steam, juju, vibes, magic, what have you: whatever it is that got the New York Mets to the National League Championship Series, it’s been absent against the Dodgers for three of the four games in the series so far.
Against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night, for example, the Mets left two runners on base in the third, sixth, seventh, and ninth innings. In the sixth inning, they had bases loaded with zero outs and still couldn’t push a single run across home plate.
All told, the Mets were o-for-6 with runners in scoring position in Game 4. It was a similar situation in Game 3.
Just how bad have the Mets been in clutch situations? Here are their last 12 at-bats with bases loaded in the postseason.

The Mets will look to keep their magic 2024 season alive in a must-win Game 5 on Friday, October 18. The Dodgers will be sending Jack Flaherty, who pitched a sparkling Game 1, to the mound, while the Mets will be pitching David Peterson.
If the Mets can get the win and bring the series to 3-2, the NLCS will shift back to Los Angeles for Game 6 on Sunday night and a potential Game 7 on Monday night.
