Most NFL viewers struggled to watch a Thursday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks that saw a total of nine points scored. One bettor, however, celebrated the putrid performance.

The gambler is now $23,000 richer after laying $176 on a wager with unlikely 135/1 odds. They bet that no touchdowns would be scored.

Jeffrey Benson, the director of operations for Circa Sports, said the bettor was one of eight people to successfully hit the “No TD” prop at the sportsbook. The $176 price was the highest his book saw.

The game turned out to be one of the worst in the NFL this season, which was the perfect recipe for success for the wager. Seattle totaled just 12 first downs and 265 yards. Chicago was even worse with 11 conversions and 179 yards.

Only three field goals were put on the scoreboard. No points were scored in the second half of action. The bettor’s slip cashed on a late Caleb Williams interception in Seattle territory.

That’s not to say there weren’t a few scares! Seattle moved inside the 10-yard line on its very first drive but failed to convert a third-and-three play. It resulted in the Seahawks being held to a 27-yard field goal.

The bet then appeared to be over in the second quarter when Williams found wideout Rome Odunze on a 17-yard touchdown pass. That play was wiped out thanks to a holding call on the Bears‘ offensive line.

There weren’t very many threats after the halftime break, however, with the two sides combining for seven punts and two turnovers. That allowed this NFL bettor to breathe a sigh of relief after a few close calls early on.

The end result was a $23,000 win. There are certainly worse ways to head into the New Year!
