NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt Gets Flamed For New Year’s Resolution Regarding NFL Social Media

When it comes to NFL media members, few people are more universally liked than NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt. The Good Morning Football host is usually jovial, well reasoned and extremely interactive with fans. But even the best fire off a hot take every now and then, and Brandt is probably regretting doing just that right about now.

On Wednesday, the GMFB team gave New Year’s Resolutions that they would suggest for specific NFL teams. But Brandt did not address one team. Instead, he addressed the entire league and, more specifically, how teams use social media.

‘Good Morning Football’ Host Kyle Brandt Slammed For Social Media Hot Take

“A lot of these teams, during the game, will tweet out the score of the game as it’s happening,” he began. “…What I don’t understand is that these teams tweet out the score to these fans when they’re getting hammered. They are getting destroyed.

“And it just makes a dartboard for the fans! You should see the comments. Below it, it’s like ‘fire everyone.’ ‘Sell the team.’ ‘This team sucks.'”

Brandt did acknowledge, correctly, that several of the teams have sponsored tweets, so they are financially obligated to tweet out the score. But it really is just opening yourself up to get drilled by angry fans who already know the score.

However, while some of us agree with Brandt, a larger swath of fans did not and made it clear to him that they strongly disagree with his stance.

“I don’t run an NFL team account but i do run an AHL team account and i mean… it’s almost like posting game updates is… part of… the job? what,” a social media coordinator for the Milwaukee Admirals said.

Have never understood this sentiment. Official accounts are there to provide fans a place to discuss their team, if they go radio silent whenever they’re losing what is the account even for,” another fan wrote.

Ultimately, it’s part of the job. You take the good, bad, and the ugly. But I can say that from a fan perspective, sometimes I really don’t need to be reminded that my team is getting its teeth kicked in.
