Another Los Angeles boxing legend is speaking out against the ICE raids. For the past week, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have launched raids on workplaces across downtown Los Angeles trying to find undocumented workers, leading to protests across the city.
Boxer Ryan Garcia, who voted for Trump, voiced his displeasure with ICE raids despite backing the President during the election.

“I may have voted for Trump, but I can’t stay silent about what’s happening with ICE in LA. These aren’t just “illegals” or statistics they’re people. Hardworking immigrants, especially Mexicans, who pay taxes, raise families, build our communities, and are part of the people we love. Ripping them away from their homes is not just policy it’s pain. We can have borders without losing our humanity.”
Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya has now come forward to speak out against the raids.

“I am sad about what’s happening in Los Angeles right now,’’ De La Hoya said in a statement provided to USA TODAY Sports on June 11. “Growing up in L.A., I witnessed firsthand how integral immigrants are to the heartbeat of this city — they are our friends, neighbors, classmates, coworkers, and loved ones. Latinos are among the most hardworking people in the world, and their contributions strengthen every corner of our communities.”
It is worth noting that Garcia and De La Hoya have a huge following in the Los Angeles and are extremely influential in the area.
