PBR descended upon Colorado State University for its Last Man Standing event. The professional bull riding circuit turned the Rams’ college football stadium into one of the world’s largest dirt arenas.

It took approximately 24 hours to transform the turf field.

This specific event is called ‘Last Cowboy Standing.’ Both nights of the bull riding tournament are followed by a country music concert from either Cross Canadian Ragweed or Jon Pardi!

Canvas Stadium looks completely different.

Canvas Stadium is located on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The 36,500-capacity college football stadium sits at 5,003 feet of elevation. It officially opened in 2017 as the home field for the Rams.

This ongoing PBR competition is the stadium’s first major event outside of football or graduation. Riders go head-to-head with the rankest bulls on the planet in a knockout competition where the Last Cowboy Standing wins.

The grounds crew worked extremely hard to prepare the venue for bull riding. It first put down a layer of flooring on top of the artificial turf field before 750+ tons of dirt were dumped on top. A large stage was built at the 50-yard-line once the dirt was settled. Chutes were installed on the hashmarks.

I love these kinds of timelapse videos. For whatever reason, I think it is so cool to see a stadium or arena built for one specific purpose, like college football, become something completely different.

PBR brought the world’s baddest bucking bulls to Colorado State!

Here is a better look at the (not so) makeshift PBR arena at Canvas Stadium from the ground level:

All of the intricate details came together perfectly. Even the branding was specific to Colorado State.

It was an incredible scene— even with three quarters of the stands blocked off.

The bulls arrived to Fort Collins in the late afternoon prior to night one of two.

They were ready to put on a show.

And that is exactly what they did!

Those boys were bucking!

Professional Bull Riding often takes over various sporting arenas and stadiums across the United States— from Madison Square Garden in New York City to the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas. This ‘Last Man Standing’ competition at Canvas Stadium at Colorado State is, without question, the coolest-looking venue in the sport. More of this!
