At just 25 years old, rapper Toosii has already hit tremendous heights in the music world, going platinum with his with 2023 single “Favorite Song.” Now, he’s decided to step out of the booth and pursue a new venture.

According to Hunter Shelton of On3Sports/Rivals, the superstar rapper, real name Nau’jour Grainger, is stepping away from rap and looking to start a college football career. And he already has Division I FBS visits lined up!

Grainger, who is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, spent the summer working out at the NC State football facilities.

Rapper Toosii Switching From Music To Football With Maryland Visit Lined Up

“I’m chasing history. First multi-platinum recording artist to go back to school and play DIVISION I football. Next year I’m gonna be on somebody’s team mark my words!” Grainger posted on X alongside a video of him catching passes at the NC State practice facility.

Now Adam Gorney of Rivals reports that Grainger is set to take an official visit to Maryland this weekend for the Terrapins’ season-opening game against Florida Atlantic.

The rapper’s Instagram page, which has over 4.5 million followers, has several videos of him working on his football skills, with the majority of them showing him working out at the wide receiver position.

Grainger does have some football experience. He played at Rolesville High School in North Carolina. And his 2015 highlights are still available on Hudl.

However, there are some complications. Grainger is not particularly big. Hudl lists him at just 5-foot-7 and 135 pounds. Yes, he has gotten bigger since then. But not much! In a 2021 post on X, he claimed to be 5-foot-8.

In order to play college football at that size, you have to have elite quickness and agility. You also have to avoid big hits. Plus, he hasn’t played organized football in nearly a decade.

Maybe he can make it work. But this feels like another case of rappers wanting to be ballers and ballers wanting to be rappers, despite it never actually working out.
