Noted NFL fan and Emmy-nominated actor Rob Lowe finds himself under fire from not only fans, but also his own brother, after turning on the Cincinnati Reds to root on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the MLB playoffs.

Lowe, 61, was spotted at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night wearing a Dodgers hat during Game 1 of the National League Wild Card series between LA and Cincinnati.

However, as fans were quick to point out, Lowe grew up a big Reds fans and, up until now, had outwardly continued to support the team.

But it’s not just fans who called Lowe. He also drew the ire of his younger brother Chad, who is, notably, the only Emmy Winner in the family.

“As soon as our Reds are back in the World Series, he’ll be up on the dugout waving our flag,” actor Chad Lowe said in a statement via social media. “If we let him.”

Unfortunately for Chad and the Reds, that won’t be this year. The Dodgers ran away with both Games 1 and 2 to advance to the NL Divisional Round, where they’ll take on the Philadelphia Phillies.

Rob Lowe Has A History Of Committing Sports Fandom Fouls

Nobody should be surprised to see Lowe happily flip-flopping on his fandom. After all, this is the same man who showed up to the 2020 NFC Championship Game between San Francisco and Green Bay wearing a plain black hat with the NFL logo emblazoned on it.

Lowe tried to explain the incident to BroBible’s own Brett Haman. But his explanation left a lot to be desried.

“On the way into the stadium, they give me a selection of hats. And they’re very elaborate NFC Championship Game (hats) with both teams and the logos and it a whole thing. And then there was the one simple NFL shield hat, which I had never seen before other than on a ref. This is what the refs wear, I think. And I was like ‘this is sick, I’m wearing this.’”

Uh, sure.

Rob Lowe might well be a great guy these days. Everyone who talks to him seems to say how nice he is. But when it comes to sports fandom, it appears he refuses to abide by a code of ethics.
