The Savannah Bananas Hilariously Recreated The ‘Phillies Karen’ Baseball Incident

Little did one woman know just how much attention she would receive when she chased down and berated a poor father for “stealing” her baseball to give to his son at the Phillies-Marlins game this past Friday night. Not only did she make SportsCenter (that did not go well for her), she also was the inspiration for the Savannah Bananas to have a person get dressed up as The Grinch and re-create the entire scene during one of their games over the weekend at Petco Park in San Diego.

In case you somehow missed it, the woman who has now been dubbed “Phillies Karen” believed that just because Harrison Bader hit a home run into the left field stands with the ball coming to rest somewhere in her vicinity that she had the rights to it. She didn’t, but that didn’t stop her from making the dad feel some sort of way that made him take the ball back from his son and give it to her. It all worked out in the end for the father and his son. Heck, it worked out ridiculously well for them.

So far, “Phillies Karen” has somehow evaded being positively identified, but as the Savannah Bananas showed with their skit, she will live in infamy.

In video shared by the Bananas, we see an outfielder toss a baseball into the stands. A woman outstretches her arms to try and catch it, but it fall short and ends up on the ground. That’s when a man wearing a “Man-Nana” outfit sprints over and corrals the ball, then runs back and gives it to his “son.” They then re-create the big hug the Phillies fan dad gave to his son after retrieving Harrison Bader’s home run ball.

At this point, instead of the woman who was reaching for the ball confronting the man who got the Bananas baseball, The Grinch appears and scolds the man for taking the ball. Finishing out the skit with pinpoint accuracy, the “dad” gives the ball to The Grinch while his “son” sadly peers at his now empty baseball glove.

And… scene.
