Scottie Pippen is getting mocked by fans for what they believe was his attempt to use an AI-generated photo as a real historical picture. The photo is the Hall of Famer’s latest effort to make money off the basketball that he kept from Game 5 of the 1991 NBA Finals against the Lakers.
“June 12, 1991. The night the game changed forever. We were the underdogs, facing Magic Johnson and the Lakers—the giants of basketball. But when the buzzer sounded in Game 5, their dynasty ended, and a new one was born,” Pippen wrote on Instagram.
“The @Game5Ball, the one I held high in those final seconds, came home with me that night. On this flight back, I held it close, knowing its weight wasn’t just leather—it was legacy. For 33 years, it’s been a beacon of the greatest sports dynasty ever and the moment that redefined the game.
Now, the story continues. The $BALL has been tokenized, and I’m passing it to the community. This isn’t just a ball—it’s a cultural icon, a symbol of teamwork, triumph, and greatness. Today, it enters Web3, creating the #1 sports brand of the future. Be part of the legacy.”
While that certainly is less bizarre than when Pippen wrote about having dreams about Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym of the person or people who developed Bitcoin and created the first blockchain database.
While many think now, as they did when Scottie Pippen was revealing his weird dreams, he is trying to promote yet another cryptocurrency scam, others just wanted to know why it appears he used an AI-generated photo (that in my opinion, makes him look like Ron Artest) instead of an actual archival photo from 1991 (which, by the way, is what the photo at the top of this article is).
“Thats A.I and not the answer🤣,” one fan laughed.
“Quality photo for 1991,” someone else wrote sarcastically.
“Who the f—- is that guy?” read another comment.
“Shame to put ai to promote authentik greatness…” another person chided. “I’m a real Scottie fan, I can remember that moment you are talking about but that ‘pic’ ain’t s— 2 me…”
“Scottie you have the real pictures cmon man,” commented another fan.
Wait. Are they saying that this video of Scottie Pippen also isn’t real?
Apparently, based on a quick look at Scottie Pippen’s X (Twitter) and Instagram account, he has discovered how to generate photos and videos of himself using AI and he absolutely loooves it.
Somehow, all of this mockery he is receiving is probably MJ’s fault.
