Aaron Donald retired last offseason as one of the greatest players in NFL history. If you made an all-time NFL team, Aaron Donald would have a real argument to be a starting defensive tackle, as the former Los Angeles Ram was as good as it gets.
Donald retired at just 32 years old, and is currently 33, meaning he’s definitely still young enough to make a return and be an outstanding player. On Monday, Rams head coach Sean McVay discussed a potential return for Aaron Donald to the Los Angeles Rams.
Donald, an eight-time first-team All-Pro, was an All-Pro selection last year with eight sacks and sixteen tackles for loss. For his career, he had 111 sacks in 154 career games, a fantastic tally for a defensive tackle. His signature play was pressuring Joe Burrow on the deciding play of Super Bowl LVI to force an incomplete pass and win the Super Bowl.

The Rams did a nice job of replacing Donald in the offseason. It’s nearly imposssible to acquire another player of his caliber. But, rookie defensive linemen Braeden Fiske and Jared Verse both look to be very good NFL players for a long time.
It’s too late for Aaron Donald to return for this season. But, what if he wanted to come back in the future. Here’s what Sean McVay had to say.
McVay on possible Aaron Donald return: "I would almost feel disrespectful reaching out to him, just based on the principles and knowing him the way that I do. If that was something that he got interested in, then that would obviously be something that you’re always open to."

I’m sure the Rams would love to have him back. Ultimately, I don’t see it happening. Donald has nothing left to prove.
