Shannon Sharpe is no longer working with ESPN, and he’s not happy with how they’ve handled the announcement. Earlier this year, Sharpe left ESPN’s airwaves after he was accused of assault by an OnlyFans model.

Sharpe settled his lawsuit with the model less than two weeks ago, but ESPN decided to part ways with the former NFL player turned commentator.

“ESPN has cut ties with NFL Hall of Famer and media analyst Shannon Sharpe less than two weeks after he settled a lawsuit in which his ex-girlfriend accused him of rape, sources briefed on the decision told The Athletic on Wednesday.”

“Sharpe has not been on ESPN since late April, when the suit was first filed. He said at the time that he would return to ESPN at the beginning of NFL training camp. ESPN declined to comment.”

Sharpe took to social media to react to ESPN firing him.

According to Sharpe, he’s known about the firing for a few days, but had asked ESPN to hold back on announcing the firing until next week, after his brother, Sterling Sharpe, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“I’m sure everyone has heard the news that I will not be returning to ESPN. I found out this information a little earlier in the week, and the only thing I asked was if this could wait until Monday. My brother is going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I really want it to be about him. This coming out would overshadow everything that he’s worked his entire life for.”

“Unfortunately it didn’t happen that way.”

Sharpe apologized to his brother for making headlines just days before the Hall of Fame ceremony.

“I’m sorry that I upstaged you in this manner, that was never my intent.”

Sterling Sharpe will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend.
