Shohei Ohtani didn’t need a translator for the Dodgers championship parade.
Earlier this year, Ohtani’s previous translator, Ippei Mizuhara, found himself in hot water when he admitted to gambling away millions of Ohtani’s money.
Ohtani went on to hire another translator to distance himself from Mizuhara and the gambling scandal surrounding him.
“I never bet on baseball or any other sports, or never have asked somebody to do it on my behalf. I have never went through a bookmaker to bet on sports.”

On Friday, Ohtani addressed the Dodger faithful at the parade with a speech delivered in perfect English.
“This is a special moment for me.” said Ohtani. “I’m so honored to be here and to be part of this team. Congratulations, Los Angeles”
Fans reacted on social media to Ohtani’s English at the Dodgers parade.
