If you were on social media during Andrew Luck’s NFL playing days, then you surely remember the incredible “Capt. Andrew Luck” account, which parodied the Indianapolis Colts’ starting QB by pretending he was a soldier fighting in the Civil War.

The tweets would always start off the same, with the imagined Civil War soldier beginning his communications with the greeting “Dearest Mother” before detailing the events of Andrew Luck’s most recent game in a hilariously historic fashion.

“Dearest mother — My disappointment is immeasurable. Our unit feel to the Jungle Cat men. We simply were unable to gain the necessary ground to fortify a victory. I find myself flummoxed by the outcome of the final maneuver of the battle. We must learn and move onward. — Andrew,” read a 2018 following a 6-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, in what proved to be one of Luck’s final NFL games.

After Luck retired from the NFL in 2018, so did the Captain Andrew Luck account. But with Luck returning to the public football stage as the the general manager for the Stanford Cardinals last fall, so has Capt. Andrew Luck, with the *real Andrew Luck* fully buying into the bit this time around, as he’s not only discussed the parody but has even dressed up like it.

“This person has a much better sense of humor than I could ever have. I think it’s hilarious. I think it’s funny,” Luck said in an interview back in August. “I think a proper parody account that stays clean and that has proper humor is good for the internet. And I’m happy to help it in some way.”
