ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has some thoughts on the Jimmy Kimmel situation. Earlier this week, Kimmel found himself in hot water when he made comments about Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer during his opening monologue.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it” and “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody he [Trump] called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a gold fish, okay.”

On Wednesday, ABC decided to suspend Kimmel indefinitely after receiving backlash over the comments.
On his new politics show, Smith slammed Kimmel for bringing up Kirk during his monologue.
“Where was the joke? Because you’re a late-night host — and obviously that has a comedic attachment to it. Where was the joke? Obviously, it wasn’t anything funny about that.”

It is worth noting that Smith guest-hosted the Kimmel show in 2021 and has spoken about wanting to get into late-night TV in the past.
