Steve Belichick, the son of Bill Belichick, appears to be moving, again. His wife, Jen, sparked all kinds of speculation about the college football program at North Carolina with her most recent posts on Instagram.
Did Bill fire his son? Did they sign a lease that has already expired? Why are they moving? Where are they going?
Knowing the Belichicks, we may not soon get these answers— if ever. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels are currently on the road for their second-ever college football game in Berkeley on Saturday.

Bill Belichick hired his eldest son to serve as the defensive coordinator at North Carolina. Steve Belichick, who played lacrosse and long snapped at Rutgers, previously served on his father’s staff with the Patriots.
The 38-year-old got his start as a defensive assistant from 2012-2015. He was promoted to safeties coach from 2016-2018, defensive backs coach in 2019 and outside linebackers coach from 2020-2023. Jedd Fisch brought him on as the defensive coordinator at Washington in 2024. Bill hired him in 2025.
Steve and Jennifer Belichick moved from Massachusetts to Seattle to Chapel Hill all within the last 19 months. It appears as though they are moving again.
Jen Belichick appears to be on the move.
Jen posted two very confusing photos to her story on Instagram. The first was her own. The second was a repost. It looks like the Belichick family is moving out of their current place of residence.
Her initial story showed a moving truck from Two Men and a Truck parked outside of her front yard.
The second post questioned why she and her family are forced to move away from their new neighbors and “immediate besties” in North Carolina.
Jen Belichick did not provide any additional context on the move. I would imagine it is within Chapel Hill.
If I had to guess, the Belichick family initially moved to North Carolina on a temporary basis. They were renting and their lease expired or they found a house they want to buy. I don’t know. We’ll see.
By all accounts, Steve Belichick remains on staff as the defensive coordinator for Bill Belichick. He was not fired. He has not been announced for a new job. Nothing has changed.
