Kamdyn Fuller and Emma Yolinsky will both play their freshman seasons of college soccer at TCU during the 2025 season. There is a four-year age gap between them…
Is this illegal? It feels illegal.
This unique scenario stems from two very different paths to Fort Worth. Both college soccer standouts recently joined the Horned Frogs as part of a total roster overhaul during the offseason. TCU added 17 new players over the last few months, including eight transfers and nine true freshman.
Emma Yolinsky is one of the transfers.
Yolinsky hails from Prosper, Texas. She was one of the top prospects in the Lone Star State in the recruiting Class of 2024.
The 5-foot-4 midfielder played for the FC Dallas youth academy and gained U.S. Soccer national team experience at the U16 Champ Chula Vista, U17 IMG Florida, and U17 and U19 Team Pool. All of that goes to say that she was and is one of the most promising young players in the country.
Thus, it was a big deal when Texas A&M received Emma Yolinsky’s commitment out of high school.
Unfortunately, her time with the Aggies ended before it started. An injury cost her all of 2024.
Kamdyn Fuller is one of the freshman.
Fuller scored the most goals and points in school history at Southlake Carrol High School in Texas. Opposing defenses did not have an answer.
However, it was her club career that really got the attention of college coaches.
She was the star midfielder at Dallas Trinity FC and won two national titles during her tenure. She also received her first experience with the U.S. youth national team at U17 camp back in February.
Kamdyn Fuller could’ve played soccer for any school in the country but TCU ultimately received her commitment because of the “coaches and community.” The Horned Frogs were thrilled.
TCU women’s soccer features one of the most unique age gaps in sports.
Fuller reported to Fort Worth for summer workouts at the beginning of the month as a true freshman. Yolinsky arrived at the same time as a redshirt freshman.
They are separated in age by (almost) four years.
Emma Yolinsky will turn 20 years old in just a few weeks. Kamdyn Fuller is only 16 years old.
The former comes through the transfer portal. The latter essentially skipped a year of high school to reclassify to the recruiting Class of 2025 from the Class of 2026.
Is it illegal? No! It is the modern era of collegiate athletics.
