More than 15,000 people packed inside United Supermarkets Arena to watch Texas Tech and Houston face off in the biggest men’s basketball game on the schedule on Monday night. That included Patrick Mahomes, who found himself involved in the celebration that ensued after a fan managed to sink a full-court putt.

On Monday, a massive line formed on the campus at Texas Tech thanks to the members of the Red Raiders faithful who headed the team’s arena hours before their No. 10 men’s basketball team faced off against No. 4 Houston in a highly-touted Big 12 showdown.

Those students were hoping to get the best seat possible once the doors opened up—an issue Patrick Mahomes didn’t have to worry about when you consider he and his wife Brittany secured courtside seats that provided them with a virtually unparalleled view of the action.

Everyone in attendance was treated to a hard-fought battle that saw the two teams tied up at 33 points toward the start of the second half before Houston pulled out to the lead it was able to maintain for the rest of the game en route to leaving Lubbock with a 69-61 victory.

Most Texas Tech fans left the arena disappointed, but there was one guy who was probably in higher spirits than the rest of them thanks to what transpired during the game.

Texas Tech is one of the many schools that offer some in-game entertainment in the form of a contest where a fan gets the chance to sink a 94-foot putt from one baseline to another for a prize, which transpired midway through the first half of Monday’s game.

I was unable to figure out what the guy who was selected won by putting the ball through a hole in a board on the opposite side of the court, and while you can probably put a price on the prize, the same can’t be said about the celebration where he got to chest bump (or, perhaps more accurately, side bump) Mahomes after the Chiefs QB decided to get in on the action.

What a guy.
