Guys Being Bros: Tony Hawk Gifts Kid Cudi One Of Kurt Cobain’s Skateboard Decks (Video)

Tony Hawk and Kid Cudi discussing Kurt Cobain

It has been about two years since Kid Cudi hit Tony Hawk up about learning to skateboard. The Cleveland-born ‘Day and Night’ rapper went straight to the top when he got into skating and was able to take some lessons from the most famous skateboarder of all-time.

Tony shared this video of him teaching Kid Cudi the ropes back in 2022:

Flash forward two years and Tony Hawk recently had Kid Cudi as a guest on his Hawk vs Wolf show and Tony surprised Cudi with one of the greatest gifts ever. To really let the moment hit, Tony weaved a story and allowed Kid Cudi to walk headfirst into the gift.

It started with Tony bringing up how he’s recently become a grandfather after his son Riley Hawk got married to Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain. They discuss how Cudi hit up Tony Hawk after he became a grandfather earlier this year and was one of the very first people to congratulate him. Then Tony brought up Kurt Cobain’s skating deck that he’d bought at auction, something they’ve evidently discussed in the past. And that’s when Tony hits him with the surprise gift:

I’m here to say that we should normalize bros giving their bros gifts when bros express how badly they want something and how meaningful it would be. Why not? We already spend enough money on ourselves. And of course we look after our families. But why shouldn’t we hook up our friends on special occasions?

Maybe we need to come up with a special holiday and work on the branding a little bit to make it hyper-masculine so more dudes will buy into it. Or maybe we just need to get in the spirit of gift giving this holiday season and hook up our bros with the things we know they’ll like that their families would never think to buy for them. Let’s take a page out Tony Hawk’s book here and make this holiday season suck less, deal?
