The Colorado Buffaloes fell to Big 12 rival Kansas last Saturday resulting in a hit to their College Football Playoff hopes. That being said, Travis Hunter only further strengthened his Heisman candidacy with a pair of touchdown receptions on offense.

The dual threat star hauled in a game-high eight receptions for 125 yards. He accounted for 12 of the Buffs‘ 21 points.

Hunter made his presence felt early in the contest by catching a 51-yard score in the second quarter. On that first touchdown, he took a screen pass to the house, weaving a path through defenders on his way to paydirt.

His second score was even more impressive! Not only did he find the endzone while evading a pair of would-be tacklers, but he actually called the play according to a teammate.

Travis Hunter called his shot!

Reserve signal caller Ryan Staub said that Hunter went to coaches prior to that touchdown and put in the play call. He knew it was going to work!

Hunter got loose running his route up the sidelines. Shedeur Sanders found him between a cornerback and a safety, and his receiver did the rest. After crossing the goal line, the Heisman candidate struck a pose as we’ve seen him do in the past. It was more than fitting for the current favorite.

Travis Hunter’s chances of winning the award skyrocketed to -1000 after that most recent performance. Next closest competitor Ashton Jeanty sits at +750. The trophy seems his to lose at this point.

On the season, Hunter has 82 catches for 1,036 yards and 11 scores. Oh, and he also leads his team in interceptions. Hunter is a threat on offense and defense. Now, he can add play caller to his list of accomplishments, too!
