Tawnisha Terry wants to be very clear that she is a clean track and field athlete. The American sprinter will not tolerate any accusations of doping or the use of PEDs.

She would be a lot faster if she was cheating!

This latest pushback comes amid a lot of drama in the sport of track and field in regard to this topic. Terry’s coach just so happens to be involved.

Who is Twanisha Terry and who is her coach?

Terry, a former national champion at USC, won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics with Team USA last summer. The 26-year-old 100-meter specialist most recently finished third at the USA Outdoor Championships last month.

Her training partner is Sha’Carri Richardson.

Both athletes are coached by Dennis Mitchell.

Mitchell, also an Olympic gold medalist, infamously blamed a positive drug test for high levels of testosterone on sex with his wife. He was also accused of providing his athletes with PEDs as part of the 2013 Biogenesis scandal (the one that rocked Major League Baseball). American track and field legend Justin Gatlin later fired Mitchell as his coach in 2017 amid a separate doping controversy.

Track and field has a doping problem.

There have been a number of different “scandals” in track over the last few months. Quite a few of those scandals involved performance enhancing drugs.

American marathon runner Emily Sisson questioned the integrity of the sport after world record holder Ruth Chepngetich tested positive for a banned substance and was subsequently suspended. She is not alone.

U.S. Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley was provisionally suspended for missing three out-of-competition drug tests within a 12-month period just last week. This was shortly after Gabby Thomas revealed how the athletes are constantly tracked by an app for random drug tests, even while out with friends.

For Kerley to miss three tests in a year is very suspicious…

The latest incident allegedly involves Dennis Mitchell. Controversial track and field whistleblower Rae Edwards claims Marvin Bracy-Williams’ strange disappearance stems from his use of PEDs.

This alleged suspension has not been confirmed but Bracy-Williams was previously coached by Mitchell.

Dennis Mitchell’s athletes won’t stand for slander.

All of Mitchell’s athletes are being linked to PED and doping allegations by people on social media because of these latest allegations from Edwards. It does not matter who they are.

Twanisha Terry does not usually let her replies get to her but, in this instance, it has gone too far.

“Everybody is going to have their opinion’s because it’s sports and that’s fine,” @TeeTeeTerry_ wrote on X. “However, what y’all are not going to do is accuse me of using any type of substance. Injuries and stuff happen in sports. I have so many hobbies/talents outside of track, and when my time comes to an end I will step away from this sport before trying to take an easy route…”

She even joked that if she was doping, she would be much faster.

“and who would be using a substance to run 10.8 please find somebody to play with like I wasn’t a consistent 10.9 runner as a freshman & ran 10.8 in college.. my first year professional and so on,” Terry continued.

Terry also reminded everyone that — at no point during her career — was/is there any cause for concern. Ever.

“Y’all it’s one thing about ignoring comments, which I can do but accusing somebody of doping is not cool at all,” she said. “I’ve competed at all levels in this sport and know what it’s like to wait for my time. Been in the testing pool since college and had nothing negative attached to me.”

Fair enough! Track and field might have a doping problem and Dennis Mitchell’s name might be attached to some of the most recent allegations but Twanisha Terry does not want it to get twisted. She’s clean.
