The golfers representing Team Europe at the Ryder Cup know they’re going to have to deal with plenty of distractions when they enter enemy territory. That includes Tyrrell Hatton, who got the chance to prepare for what’s in store with the help of someone who ripped a giant fart while he was teeing off during a practice round at Bethpage Black.
We’re around a week away from the start of the Ryder Cup, and the United States will have home-course advantage on its side as it looks to bounce back from its loss to Europe in Italy in 2023 during a tournament that will officially kick off at Bethpage Black on Long Island on September 26th.
The crowd has historically been a major factor at that international affair, and Americans have been warned to be on their best behavior if they don’t want to get kicked out of an event where the cheapest one-day ticket was priced at a whopping $750.
The Europeans are not taking any chances, as we recently learned players have been practicing with virtual reality headsets programmed to pelt them with verbal abuse in the hopes it reduces the chance spectators are able to give Team USA a psychological edge during the showdown.
However, there’s only so much you can do to prepare for what you’ll be subjected to once you arrive on the course—a reality one member of the visiting team was confronted with on Tuesday.
Tyrrell Hatton died laughing after a noisy fart forced him to abandon a tee shot during a Ryder Cup practice round
Fans won’t get the chance to attend a practice round at Bethpage Black until next Tuesday, but the course has already welcomed players who will have plenty of time to learn the ins and outs of the infamously difficult track before the tournament gets underway.
Tyrrell Hatton has also had plenty of time to recover from the crippling hangover he treated himself to thanks to the celebration he opted for after learning he’d been tapped to play for Europe for a fourth consecutive time.
It doesn’t seem like a stretch to suggest he was probably dealing with some flatulence when he woke up after that booze-fueled binge, but there was someone else facing a similar situation during a practice round on Tuesday where Hatton was preparing to tee off on the par-5 13th but had to abandon his swing after the unmistakable sound of a fart made him lose his compsoure.

It’s unclear who the culprit was as of this writing, but I will make sure to update this article with that very important piece of information if any details come to light.
