English golfer Tyrrell Hatton is set to make his fourth Ryder Cup appearance. He has a solid resume in his previous three selections going 5-4-2 overall and only in the singles matches does he have a losing record (1-2).
Tyrrell Hatton is in Surrey for the BMW PGA Championship where LIV Golf tour members like himself are competing and he spoke on the podium about how hammered he got after learning about his fourth Ryder Cup selection. Sean Zak of GOLF.com on X (formerly known as Twitter) called this “the greatest press conference clip” he has ever seen and that certainly caught my attention enough to watch.
Tyrrell Hatton Overshares About Drinking Following Ryder Cup News
Full disclosure, if hearing someone talk about getting sick will make you queasy then this might not be for you.
Tyrrell Hatton’s story from the BMW PGA Championship was shared on X by Jamie Kennedy and Hatton goes off about learning that he was selected for the Ryder Cup team, ripping shots, falling asleep face down in his own sick, waking up that way, and so on and so forth. Here it is:
A MUST watch…

As a state school grad, I can relate. I’m not too proud to admit that I have questioned my drinking decisions from the night before. But my dude, hazelnut sour shots? At what point do you accept that you are a bad drinker just based on drink choice alone?
Mind you, all of this happened in a place that wasn’t his own bedroom… It was a hotel. Tyrrell Hatton said he was “rushing to make the room somewhat acceptable” before he got out of there which ultimately means someone was stuck cleaning up that sick. I’d say I hoped he left $200 on the pillow but he said “some cash” and “a note saying ‘sorry, I was sick'” which really leaves me wondering what the going rate is for ‘sorry, complete stranger, but you have to clean this up and here’s some money for your troubles.

Ultimately, while I think Tyrrell Hatton’s reasons for being that sick should be considered (by him, not me), I see a lot of passion here. We don’t have that passion on the American squad. We’re full of robots. Nobody on the Team USA Ryder Cup squad would have done that to themselves after finding out they made the squad.
How can Team USA compete with that passion at the Ryder Cup? Will the home country advantage on Long Island be enough?
