Utah State has one of the most electric student sections in college basketball. They are willing to risky hypothermia to camp out overnight in sub-freezing temperatures for a game more than 24 hours away.

That is dedication!

The Aggies are one of the best mid-major programs in college hoops this season. They rank second behind New Mexico State in the Mountain West Conference at 13-3 and 23-4 overall. Their only losses were to the Lobos (twice), on the road at UNLV by three and to a spicy UCSD team by two.

If Utah State does not win the conference tournament next month, it is a virtual lock that it will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Jerrod Calhoun built a monster in Logan.

A large part of the success stems from a raucous home environment. The student section is intimidating!

They even wear latex gloves to create an even louder noise when they clap together in unison. It is one of the weirdest and most unique traditions in sports. Anything to get an extra edge, right?!

Utah State will host San Diego State at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday night. Students are so eager to be first in line that they camped out on Friday night.

Although it is not uncommon for students to sleep outside of the arena at other schools, even in cold weather, the overnight temperatures in Logan took it to the extreme. It dropped down to single-digits!

Students who braved the elements in their tents woke up to a thermometer that read 7º. And to make conditions even worse, a freezing fog rolled in right before sunrise. Brr.

The Aggies love their team. Utah State is one of the least talked about college basketball programs on a national level but it could be a team to watch come March Madness. And if Friday’s camp out was any indication, its students will do whatever it takes to support their team!!
