Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles is currently working his way back through the minor league system while rehabbing a dislocated shoulder. His most recent start was cut short.

Robles erupted on a familiar pitcher after being plunked in the third inning of a game between the Tacoma Rainiers and Las Vegas Aviators. He was quickly removed from the contest for his retaliation.

The outfielder has been rehabbing after suffering the initial setback in April. Robles crashed into the wall and netting while attempting to snag a deep flyball against the Giants. His arm bent back awkwardly, resulting in his exit from the field.

Victor Robles has played in five minor league games.

He’s already been hit by multiple pitches, though not all have resulted in a free pass. Las Vegas Aviators pitcher Joey Estes is responsible for two of those instances, including the most recent.

Estes threw up and in to Robles on the first pitch of his third inning at-bat. Despite being hit by the ball, the outfielder swung through the pitch resulting in a strike.

After gathering his bearings, Robles launched his bat at the pitcher before charging the mound. He was restrained by teammates and escorted to the dugout where he then threw a cooler full of sunflower seeds onto the field.

Robles and Estes have history.

We mentioned that Estes has already hit Victor Robles once this week, but that’s not where the beef begins. The pitcher has previously played for the A’s, an AL West rival of the Mariners.

The A’s have hit Robles with four pitches since 2024. Estes is responsible for at least one of those offenses.

The outfielder offered an apology on social media after the fact. He overreacted after being hit “5 times in 15 at-bats.”

“I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for my recent reaction on the field. I let my frustration get the best of me,” he wrote.

“Coming off a long rehab and being away from the game for most of the season has been physically and mentally challenging… Getting hit 5 times in 15 at-bats added to that pressure, and I reacted in a way I’m not proud of…

“I’m committed to being better, not just as a player, but as a teammate and competitor. I appreciate your understanding, and I’m grateful to be back on the field doing what I love.

“Thank you.”

It will be interesting to see if there is further punishment for his bat toss.
