The Virginia Cavaliers football team picked up one of the biggest wins in recent program history on Friday night when they upset ACC foe Florida State, 46-38 in double overtime.
However, the incredible win was quickly marred by a scary field storming that nearly left both Florida State and UVA players trampled as hundreds of students immediately rushed the playing surface.
The fans storming the field is a beautiful sight. Couldn’t have rehearsed it. The timing was impeccable. Go Canes. pic.twitter.com/ToEGKXyXtX

Fans React In Horror Over Insane Virginia Field Storming
Due to the layout of Virginia’s Scott Stadium, thousands of students sit on a hillside behind the end zone, rather than in actual seats. That means that there’s no physical barrier between the students and the field.
So when the game ended, students were already lined up more or less on the field, giving them immediate access. As soon as defensive back Ja’Son Prevard came down with the game-clinching interception, they flooded the field, despite Prevard and Florida State wide receiver Squirrel White remaining on the ground as it happened.
The incident occurred so quickly that many fans were genuinely afraid for the safety of the players.
You have to keep the kids in the stands until the game ends. Letting them get within a foot of the endzone results in this scary stampede. https://t.co/WcBameN0B2

I’m all for a good storm the field but this is just ridiculous they could be literally on the field the entire overtime waiting for it to happen https://t.co/zALGmlQ14u

Generally speaking, we at BroBible dot com love a good field storming. The arbitrary rules of field and court storming are typically anti-fun. But this was actually dangerous. It was terrifying to see unfold, and while no injuries have been reported, it wouldn’t have been surprising if the players had suffered serious injuries.
There needs to be some sort of guidelines in place to ensure this type of thing never happens again. Field storming is awesome. Nearly trampeling players who are lying on the ground is very much not awesome.
