The Washington Huskies were thrown into turmoil on Friday when Head Coach Kalen DeBoer left the program to replace Nick Saban as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

It capped off a brutal week for Washington fans, who saw their team lose the College Football Playoff National Championship Game to Michigan, 34-13, and a bunch of their top players elect to leave early for the NFL Draft.

Many Husky fans wanted offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb to be the program’s next head coach. But, according to a statement he released late Saturday night.

Grubb has coached under Kalen DeBoer since 2007 at multiple stops along the way, and is considered one of the best offensive minds in the entire sport. It’s not clear why Washington has decided not to go with him as their next head coach, but it’s pretty clear they won’t. I expect him to end up at Alabama as DeBoer’s offensive coordinator.
