Two weeks into the 2025 NFL season and we are getting a clearer picture of what this year’s cream of the crop looks like in the QB rooms across the league and our Week 2 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings reflect that.
Some major shifts in the NFL quarterback power rankings occurred from the NFL Preseason to Week 1 and again in Week 2, especially after Joe Burrow went out with Turf Toe and signs indicate he’ll be on the bench for an extended period of time.
Week 2 Power Ranking All 32 Starting NFL Quarterbacks In 2025
During last week’s NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings there was a TON of movement. With each week we get more data and a deeper understanding of the ebbs and flows of each starting QB’s games but early on in th season like this we still see a lot of movement.
32. Justin Fields – New York Jets (Prev. 20)

© Rich Barnes-Imagn Images
Justin Fields didn’t look good at all before he went out with an injury. He was just 3/11 in passing for 27 yards and 0 TDs. Fields did scramble for 49 yards but we didn’t see a complete game from him as Tyrod Taylor came in post-injury.
31. J.J. McCarthy – Minnesota Vikings (Prev. 16)

© Matt Krohn/Imagn
So in Week 1 J.J. McCarthy started off shaky but orchestrated that incredible 4th quarter comeback. Week 2 was… bad. Was it an anomaly? We won’t know for a while because it appears J.J. McCarthy got injured near the end of the game and could sit for a while.
Prior to that, he was 11/21 for 158 yards with 2 interceptions and 0 touchdowns. He also took 6 sacks and fumbled the ball three times! When he comes back from the injury he will need to make rapid improvements.
30. Spencer Rattler – New Orleans Saints (Prev. 31)

© Matthew Hinton-Imagn Images
Spencer Rattler showed a lot of improvement in Week 2 over week 1. He was 25/34 in passing for 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions while scrambling for 14 yards.
Ultimately, New Orleans lost at home by 5. Rattler did have a costly fumble but that was his biggest mistake of the game. He’s improving and he will continue to move up the power rankings week after week if he plays like he did last Sunday.
29. Sam Darnold – Seattle Seahawks (Prev. 29)

© Stephen Brashear-Imagn Images
Sam Darnold made some big improvement from Week 1 into Week 2 and got Seattle’s first win of the season, 31-17 on the road in Pittsburgh. He threw for 295 yards and 2 touchdowns but also threw 2 interceptions which is a red flag in a game where they Seahawks never really felt much pressure.
28. Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears (Prev. 17)

© Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images
After showing sparks in Week 1, Caleb Williams fell in the Week 2 Starting QB Power Rankings after the Bears got demolished by the Lions. Caleb was just 19 of 30 in passing for 2 TDs and 1 INT. He also scrambled for 27 yards.
It is hard to pinpoint what Caleb Williams could have done better to keep the score closer because the Bears got straight-up boat raced by Detroit. He needed the ball more and Chicago had 19 first downs to Detroit’s 25. They were just 7-13 on 3rd down conversions. His team needed more of him in pressure situations.
27. Joe Flacco – Cleveland Browns (Prev. 27)

© Ken Blaze-Imagn Images
The Browns are setting Joe Flacco up for failure. They had him throw the ball 45 times in a 17-41 loss to the Ravens. Flacco connected on just 25 of those 45 passes and his only reliable receiver in the game seemed to be Harold Fannin Jr.
Flacco threw for 199 yards, 1 TD, had 1 interception, and fumbled the ball once. Cleveland needs better than an aging Joe Flacco to turn things around and Flacco needs a LOT more than Cleveland to look stellar at this stage in his career.
26. Bryce Young – Carolina Panthers (Prev. 26)

Bob Donlan - Imagn Images
Bryce Young and the Panthers fell to 0-2 on the season. The 5’10” QB lost 22-27 on the road in Arizona but looked markedly improved over Week 1.
Young threw the ball 55 times, which is filthy. He was 35/55 for 328 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Throwing the ball 55 times in a game where your team only scores 22 points is a major red flag. Get that man a star running back already. Jeesh.
25. Cam Ward – Tennessee Titans (Prev. 30)

© Mark Zaleski / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Cam Ward’s second week as an NFL QB had some interesting moments. He made one of the best throws of the weekend on a 23 yard touchdown throw to Elic Ayomanor after scrambling to avoid multiple tackles.
But, he still didn’t have enough juice to power the offense. Cam Ward was just 19-of-33 for 175 yards with 1 touchdown and a lost fumble. He still needs to improve a lot.
24. Bo Nix – Denver Broncos (Prev. 25)

Ron Chenoy - Imagn Images
Bo Nix looked better than Week 1 to be sure. He threw the ball 30 times and completed 22 of those passes for 206 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. He looked a lot more comfortable in Week 2.
Ultimately, Bo Nix and the Broncos lost 28-29 to Indianapolis in a controversial ending. But there were a lot of reasons to think Bo Nix is finding his form quickly.
23. Michael Penix Jr. – Atlanta Falcons (Prev. 9)

Dale Zanine-Imagn Images
Michael Penix Jr. actually looked okay-ish in Week 2 despite doing less than Week 1. He was 13/21 for 135 yards but didn’t throw any interceptions (or TDs). He never coughed the ball up, the run game got it done, and he got out of Minnesota with a 22-6 win after J.J. McCarthy looked absolutely horrendous.
22. Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins (Prev. 32)

Sam Navarro-Imagn Images
Tua looked a LOT better than he did in Week 1 but how much is that really saying? He threw the ball for 315 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 interception.
The Dolphins lost 27-33 at home to New England. Tua took 5 sacks and for a guy with a history of head injuries that is very concerning.
21. Jake Browning – Cincinnati Bengals (Prev. Unranked)

© Sam Greene/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Cincinnati Bengals backup QB Jake Browning came into the game for after Joe Burrow left with turf toe. Browning looked pretty good but had mistakes, to be sure.
He was 21/32 with 2 TDs and 3 INTs, flip-flopping the stat line of Trevor Lawrence. Jake threw for 241 yards and rushed for another 47. Cincinnati won the game 31-27. Jake is a new comer to the power rankings and played solid enough to get the W but he will need to cut out the interceptions to move up the QB power rankings next week.
20. Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders (Prev. 10)

© Kirby Lee-Imagn Images
Jayden Daniels’ stock continued to fall in Week 2. The incredible rookie we saw last season hasn’t emerged yet in his sophomore season. In Week 2, Jayden and the Commanders fell to the Packers 18-27.
Jayden had a LOT of opportunities to manufacture plays. He threw the ball 42 times (!!!) but was only 24/42 with 2 TDs and 0 INTs for 200 yards, or 4.8 yds/pass average. Love was also throwing the ball a ton on the other side of the field but he was going for longer yardage and that certainly helped win the game.
19. Mac Jones – San Francisco 49ers (Prev. Unranked)

iStockphoto / © Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images
Stepping in for Brock Purday was former Pats QB Mac Jones and he came to play, beating the Saints 26-21 on the road. Mac Jones was 26/39 passing for 3 touchdowns and 0 interception and looked fresh in his season debut.
18. Geno Smith – Las Vegas Raiders (Prev. 8)

© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images
Geno Smith did not look like his former self on Monday night. He took a 9-20 loss at home to the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
Smith threw the ball 43 times (!!) but only connected on 24 of those passes. He had 180 yards with 3 interceptions and 0 touchdowns. Geno was trying to do too much on Monday night and nothing was working for him. Props to the Charges for keeping him contained.
17. Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars (Prev. 23)

Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union-USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Trevor Lawrence was trying to do too much on Sunday. He was called on to throw the ball constantly, going 24/42, and threw for 271 yards, 3 TDs, with 2 interceptions.
Jacksonville was running the ball well. They had 139 yards on the ground to Cincinnati’s 48. And Cincy had a backup QB in the game. Lawrence tried to put the game on his shoulders and ultimately coughed up the ball three times with two interceptions and a fumble.
16. Drake Maye – New England Patriots (Prev. 18)

© David Butler II-Imagn Images
New England loved what they saw from Drake Maye in Week 2. It was a considerable improvement over week 1.
Maye threw the ball 23 times and connected on 19 of those passes. He had 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and he recovered a fumble in the Patriots’ 33-27 win over Miami. He didn’t just look good but he looked good in a way that signaled great things are to come in the weeks ahead.
15. C.J. Stroud – Houston Texans (Prev. 21)

© Thomas Shea-Imagn Images
C.J. Stroud threw for 207 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INTs in Houston’s Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stroud also scrambled for 27 yards and took 3 sacks in the game.
We have yet to see magic from the #2 overall pick in 2023. He was just 13-for-24 of passing on Monday night with a QBR of only 19.5. His top receiver, Nico Collins, was only able to haul in 3 catches on 9 targets for 52 yards. He needs to find a way to gel with his receivers to turn things around.
14. Russell Wilson – New York Giants (Prev. 28)

Sam Greene/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
With an incredible Week 2, Russell Wilson actually leads the NFL in passing yards through two weeks. He threw the ball for 450 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, and a fumble while rushing for 32 yards.
Was that enough to beat NFC East rival Dallas? No, it was not. He will need to protect the ball better if the Giants want to make a run this season because everything else he’s doing right now is great.
13. Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles (Prev. 14)

© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images
Jalen Hurts did everything that was asked of him in the Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs. He was 15/22 passing for 101 yards. He scrambled for 15 yards but did lose a fumble.
Saquon carrying the ball 22 times for 88 yards and a touchdown certainly made Jalen look good but there’s really an interesting trend emerging through two weeks with Philly where Jalen Hurts simply does not have to do much in order for the team to win. What that means for his weekly standing in the NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings, I do not know…
12. Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals (Prev. 24)

Rob Schumacher/The Republic-USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Kyler Murray had a solid but unremarkable week. He’s been all over the NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings and it seems that trend will continue as he’s a real Jekyll/Hyde type QB lately.
Murray was 17/25 passing for 220 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT, and scrambled for 32 yards. He only took one sack in the game and Arizona got the home win 27-22 over Carolina.
11. Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys (Prev. 22)

Dale Zanine - Imagn Images
Dak Prescott moved up in Week 2 of the NFL Starting QB Power Rankings after what could be considered a ‘signature win’ over the Giants. Dak threw the ball for 361 yards, was 38/52, had 2 TDs and 1 interception as well as a fumble. But he made the big plays when it mattered and they beat the Giants 40-37.
10. Aaron Rodgers – Pittsburgh Steelers (Prev. 3)

Barry Reeger-Imagn Images
Rodgers was at #3 in the NFL Starting QB Power Rankings last week and had a big drop after losing 17-31 at home to the Seahawks. Aaron was 18/33 in passing for 1 TD, 2 interceptions, and he took 3 sacks.
Jaylen Warren was able to haul in one of Aaron’s passes for 65 yards but beyond that the offense lacked any explosive play.
9. Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs (Prev. 6)

© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images
Patrick Mahomes fell to 0-2 to start the season for the first time in his career. Is it time to panic? Absolutely not. He is still one of the best to ever play the game and he will have his team right where they need to be in the weeks ahead.
But in the Week 2 Super Bowl rematch loss to Philly, Mahomes was 16/29 for 187 yards, 1/1 TD/INT, and he scrambled for 66 yards making him the Chiefs’ leading rusher in the game. Right now, Mahomes needs help from his teammates. He is not the reason the Chiefs are struggling.
8. Daniel Jones – Indianapolis Colts (Prev. 7)

© Robert Goddin-Imagn Images
If you would’ve told me in the preseason that Daniel Jones would emerge as one of the league’s best passers with the Indianapolis Colts I would’ve told you I have a bridge to sell you but hand on heart, I was wrong on Danny Dimes and he has looked incredible through two weeks.
Daniel Jones threw for 316 yards, was 23/34 for 1 TD and 0 INTs, and only took one sack. He looked comfortable in the pocket, spread the ball around, and got a close win at home.
7. Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Prev. 13)

© Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images
Baker Mayfield has looked incredibly sharp through two weeks. Going back further, he leads the league in TDs thrown among active quarterbacks since he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On MNF, Baker engineered a game-ending drive to beat the Texans by 1-point after connecting with Rachaad White for a touchdown. He threw for 215 yards on the night, 2 TDs, but did take 4 sacks with a depleted o-line and Tristan Wirfs still sidelined. But Baker has shown each week that he is reaching an elite level.
6. Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills (Prev. 1)

Denny Medley - Imagn Images
Josh Allen had to drop after the Jets game. Previously at #1, Allen wasn’t called on to do much but he only had 148 yards, 0 TDs, and 0 INTs. Josh did scramble for 59 yards including one run for 40.
There are no red flags here. He simply didn’t have to do enough to maintain the #1 spot in the power rankings because the Bills beat the Jets in other ways.
5. Jordan Love – Green Bay Packers (Prev. 5)

Benny Sieu-Imagn Images
Jordan Love looked rock solid on Thursday Night Football beating the Commanders. He was 19/31, which could be improved, but he threw for 292 yards, 2 TDs, and 0 INTs.
Jordan has a quick release and his receivers are up to the task this season. Tucker Kraft made him look good with 124 yards on 6 receptions for 1 TD and a long of 57 yards. Not too shabby.
4. Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers (Prev. 4)

Kyle Terada-Imagn Images
Justin Herbert’s stock climbed in Week 2. He pulled off a 20-9 win over the Raiders in the late game of the Monday Night Football doubleheader.
Herbert threw for 242 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, and took two sacks for just 6 yards. He also led his team in rushing with 31 yards on the ground. THAT has got to change if the Chargers want to be contenders but that’s not on Herbert. He was 19/27 in passing and spread the ball evenly between Quentin Johnson and Keenan Allen, each with 7 targets. Justin continues to impress week after week.
3. Jared Goff – Detroit Lions (Prev. 11)

© Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Jared Goff looked magical on Sunday beating the Bears 52-21. Goff threw for 334 yards, 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and had an incredible 94.1 QBR after connecting on 23 of his 28 pass attempts.
Goff had the third most passing yards of any QB in Week 1 and bounced back hard from Week 1’s performance that was below his typical level.
2. Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams (Prev. 12)

© Kirby Lee/Imagn
Once again, Matthew Stafford looked incredibly sharp. That’s two weeks of stellar QB play from the veteran. He was 7th in the league in passing in Week 2 with 298 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INTs, connecting on 23 of 33 pass attempts.
Stafford did fumble the ball but recover his fumble. He did throw an interception. But he did everything that was needed *and then some* to beat Tennessee 33-19.
1. Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens (Prev. 2)

Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images
Lamar Jackson moved into the #1 spot in our NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings after sitting in #2 last week. He was 19/29 passing for 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions with 225 passing yards.
The dual threat QB wasn’t called on to run, only rushing for 13 yards while the Ravens cruised to an easy 41-17 win over Cleveland. Lamar would LOVE more games like that where he can go out, execute passes and his receivers run their routes. Everyone looked good in the clinical win.
And thus concludes the first 2025 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings for all 32 Starting Quarterbacks in the NFL to start the season. Where did we go wrong? What did we get right? Let me know in the Facebook comments or email me anytime at cass@brobible.com.
