A recent quote from Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen about what he’s learned from his new wife Hailee Steinfeld has created a narrative about how his new marriage is impacting his performance.

Ahead of the Buffalo Bills’ Monday Night Football road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons — which they lost by a score of 24-14 for their second-straight loss of the season — Josh Allen sat down with ESPN’s Marty Smith for a wide-ranging interview during which his recent marriage to the Oscar-nominated actress naturally came up.

After beginning to date in May 2023, the pair got married in May of this year, leading Smith to ask the 2024 NFL MVP what he’s learned from the 28-year-old actress and singer so far.

NFL fans worried about Josh Allen’s competitive drive after he shared what he’s learned from his new wife Hailee Steinfeld

“Maybe that I am more than a football player,” Allen told ESPN’s Marty Smith about on the biggest thing he’s learned from Steinfeld. “My whole dream as a kid was to be in this position, and I never thought of anything outside of that or beyond that. But there is life after it as well.”

Allen’s answer, however, has led some NFL fans accusing him of losing his competitive fire.

While the Bills have lost their last two games, it’s certainly difficult to pin their struggles on Allen’s marital choices, as he’s completed 68.5% of his passes for 1,397 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions, while also carrying the ball 46 times for 254 yards and another three touchdowns.
