Will Levis will miss the 2025 NFL season with the Tennessee Titans. Some are beginning to comment on the timing of the update on social media.
Former Titans wide receiver Nate Washington fueled a conspiracy fire with his reaction to the announcement. He says the decision was “intentional.”
Levis dealt with a shoulder injury throughout the 2024 campaign which hampered his ability to be successful on the field. Through 12 games as the team’s starter, he posted a 2-10 record while throwing 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Tennessee opted to use its latest first-round pick on a quarterback, selecting Cam Ward out of the University of Miami with the first overall choice. It looks like he will now have the keys to the offense in his rookie year.

The passer will not play in 2025. Instead, he’ll spend the year recovering from surgery in hopes of fixing his prior setback.
The news comes less than two months from the season opener. It should all but end any speculation on the team’s starting signal caller come Week 1 vs. Denver.
The Titans released a statement on the injury and surgery via social media on Monday. They made sure to state that the decision was on the quarterback.
“We support his decision to focus on his long-term health,” the Titans said. “He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery.”
That fact was further backed up by Turron Davenport of ESPN.
It should be noted this is Will Levis’ decision. The Titans are merely supporting it. Levis won’t be with the team when they report tomorrow. His surgery is scheduled for July 29.
Nate Washington questions the timing of the announcement.
The news comes one day before the team reports for training camp. Washington, who played six seasons with the franchise, found that odd.
“That Levis decision/timing was intentional!” he wrote on X. “Not gonna get me to believe anything else…”
Washington wants to know why Will Levis waited so long to come to his decision. Did it have something to do with his spot on the depth chart? Was he being beaten out by Cam Ward? Was he given a fair shake?
Former offensive lineman Taylor Lewan echoed the sentiment. “I’m sure there’s a side to the story that explains why Will waited until late July to get this surgery,” he posted. “Unfortunately, I’m too dumb to figure out what that is.”
Washington continued his line of questioning while going back and forth with social media users. “If it ain’t healing, why participate in all offseason activities?!” he asked.
Unfortunately, questions are all we have at this point in regard to the decision-making. Conspiracists believe there was a reason for the timing.

Does Will Levis want out of Tennessee?
The passer previously commented on the Titan’s decision to draft Cam Ward just two seasons after selecting Levis with a second-round pick.
“Anyone who’s ever been in my situation would agree it sucks,” he said earlier this offseason. “I’m just trying to do the best I can to not let it affect me and just being the same dude every day in the building and being there for the guys however I can and just trying to get better every day.”
That interview, which came in late May via Main Street Nashville, further clouds the current situation, however. At the time, he assured the Titans that things were trending in a positive direction at the time.
“It was a lot of just relearning my stroke, relearning my body and trying to get back to the basics of that. I feel like it’s really paid off. I’ve been feeling good the last few weeks…
“I haven’t been a backup in a while, but I don’t plan on shifting my mindset, regardless of what the situation is. I’m just going to be ready to play quarterback whenever my name is called.”
-Will Levis
Something changed in the month-and-a-half since speaking on that progress. Levis is packing it in for 2025 and ceding the starting role to his rookie teammate.
Levis competed throughout the beginning of the offseason for the QB1 opening. Would he have opted to have surgery had he been guaranteed the job? We don’t know.
Now, his future is unclear. Some believe he’ll push to leave Tennessee after being passed over by the organization.
