Whether they like it or not, it appears that WNBA players have finally come around to the realization that Caitlin Clark is the face of the league for years to come. At least, that’s what they stated in a recent anonymous survey.

In the survey, part of an annual series conducted by The Athletic, 53.8 percent of players polled believe that Clark will be the face of the league in five years. USC star JuJu Watkins came in second with 17.9 percent of the vote, while Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers checked in with 14.1 percent of the vote in third.

No other player received more than 10 percent of the vote.

“She’s clearly already a draw, and she still has room to improve (as a player),” one player, who remained anonymous, said of Clark, while another said that she’s “currently the face of the league.”

But that’s where things get interesting. Clark is undeniably the current face of the league. Which isn’t to say that she’s the best player in the league. But the numbers make it extremely evident that she moves the needle more than any other WNBA player.

Despite those numbers, countless current and former WNBA players have attempted to deny Clark’s impact. As have several members of the media. Former WNBA superstar Sheryl Swopes has been one of Clark’s biggest critics, while Angel Reese and others across the league have attempted to downplay Clark’s impact.

But now it appears that the former Iowa star has become undeniable.

The timing of the poll results are ironic, as Clark’s sophomore campaign has been a disappointment thus far due, in large part, to recurring injuries. But when Clark is healthy, she has the ability to not only change the game on the court, but the league as a whole.
