Saturday night, Raja Jackson, the son of former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, was caught on camera jumping into a wrestling ring and savagely beating wrestler Syko Stu with repeated punches to the head, even after the wrestler was unconscious. While Raja Jackson’s actions are reportedly still under investigation, the family of Syko Stu, real name Stuart Smith, has shared an update on his medical condition.
Monday morning it was reported that Syko Stu is in critical condition following 22 punches to the head by Raja Jackson during a Knokx Pro Wrestling match which was broadcast live on Kick. In video of the assault, Stu can be seen lying unconscious in the ring and failing to respond to all attempts to revive him.
“Thank you everyone for your prayers, concerns, and kind words for my brother Stu. Please continue to keep him I your prayers,” Andrew Smith, the brother of Stuart Smith, wrote on social media. “He’s currently stable but in critical care. At this time we’re focused on his recovery and appreciate all the support. Also we currently do not have a GoFundMe set up, any links posted are not affiliated with us.”
Douglas Malo, one of the wrestlers who attempted to stop the attack by Raja Jackson, told USA Today that Smith was awake and talking on Sunday, but had broken bones in his face and lost “a lot of teeth.”
“He was choking on his own blood and teeth,” Malo said. “Somebody reminded me there’s kids there and then I was like, ‘Oh my God.'”
Quinton Jackson responds
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, after watching video of his son’s assault on Smith, wrote on social media, “I want to clear up the misinformation about my son Raja. I’ve been confirmed that the wrestler (Stewart Smith aka Syko Stu) is awake and stable. Raja was unexpectedly hit in the side of the head by him moments before Smith’s match, Raja was told that he could get his ‘payback’ in the ring, I thought it was apart of the show. It was bad judgement, and a work that went wrong. Raja is a MMA fighter not a pro wrestler and had no business involved in an event like this.”
Raja Jackson was hit in the head by Smith, but it was hours before Jackson pummeled Smith in the ring. Video shows Smith apologizing to Jackson well before the attack in the ring and he and Jackson appeared to have sorted things out.
“I don’t condone my son’s actions AT ALL!” Quinton Jackson continued. “He suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact. As a father, I’m deeply concerned with his health AND the well being of Mr. Smith. That being said I’m very upset that any of this happened, but my main concern now is that Mr. Smith will make a speedy recovery. I apologize on his behalf and to KICK for the situation.”
Video from before the attack
Despite Stu’s apologies and Jackson appearing to have accepted them, prior to the attack Raja Jackson was getting himself very worked up while sitting in the audience. He openly tells people online that he is going to hit Smith for real when he gets into the ring because he felt “disrespected.”

It was reported on Sunday that the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident. As of Monday morning, Raja Jackson had not been charged with any crimes.
