It’s safe to say March Madness didn’t pan out how Purdue and its fans envisioned after the Boilermakers received a one-seed on Selection Sunday.
While the team should’ve theoretically had no problem dispatching Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the underdogs flipped the script en route to pulling out what is arguably the biggest upset in college basketball history.
FDU’s victory was especially impressive when you consider the matchup featured the smallest team in the country facing off against a squad that could credit a good chunk of its success in the regular season to Zach Edey, the 7’4″ behemoth who was recently named National Player of the Year by the NABC.
Edey is an undoubtedly dominant player but one who also has at least one glaring flaw that could deter NBA teams from selecting him early if he decides to declare for the 2023 Draft.
As a result, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Edey return to Purdue for one more season.
What would be a huge surprise, however, is to hear he’d decided to come back but play for another school—which is what supposed basketball “insider” Dan Dikich suggested he may do in a tweet where he said “my people” had informed him the big man had entered the transfer portal.

Well, it’s safe to say it didn’t take very long for that rumor to get debunked, as Edey chimed in less than five minutes after the initial tweet was posted to let Dakich and the rest of the world know he had not, in fact, decided to take his talents elsewhere.

At this point, it shouldn’t come as a huge shock that people like Dakich opt to run with what they’re told for the clout as opposed to taking the time to try to verify the information is true.
However, when you decide to do that, you’re just asking to get clowned on like this.
